What are SMARTSHOOTER fire control systems used for?

An abstract and concrete threat posed by drones has become increasingly widespread worldwide. Military forces and law enforcement agencies, including state and federal police, are facing this ongoing threat more frequently. Reports from various operations indicate that, for example, German Bundeswehr camps in Afghanistan and Mali were almost daily overflown by small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS), likely for reconnaissance purposes. However, it cannot be ruled out that Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) may also carry payloads capable of conducting attacks.

With the increasing proliferation of sUAS, counter-sUAS (C-sUAS) capabilities and technologies are becoming more important than ever. This applies not only to international deployments but also to the protection of domestic infrastructure.

The challenges posed by sUAS are diverse. Most drones are civilian products that are widely available and often inexpensive, making them accessible to almost anyone. They are typically small in size and made of plastic, resulting in a low signature that is difficult to detect or track. In addition, they offer relatively high speeds and a high level of agility. Commercially available yet powerful systems can be acquired at low cost and often include simple flight control, built-in planning and navigation systems, long flight times, and high-definition camera technology.

To counter these new and rapidly evolving threats, SMARTSHOOTER specializes in developing advanced fire control systems for small arms that significantly increase accuracy and hit probability against both static and moving targets on the ground and in the air, day and night.


SMASH HOPPER

The SMASH HOPPER is a lightweight Remote Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS) equipped with SMASH fire control technology. It enables operators to remotely engage ground targets and small Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

The combination of low weight and compact size makes the SMASH HOPPER a complete system, ideally suited for complex urban environments, border areas, and the protection of critical infrastructure, as well as situations where a low signature is required. The HOPPER can be mounted in various configurations, including on a tripod, fixed mast, naval vessels, or vehicles.

The SMASH fire control tracking and locking capability allows the system to maintain target lock while maneuvering on land or at sea.

The SMASH HOPPER can also be integrated into existing Command-and-Control (C2) systems, enabling operators to transmit or receive targets via established communication networks.
