Discontinued – Successor: F-COD PRO
Product Description
The thermal clip-on device for existing night vision systems creates an image fusion overlay, combining the advantages of both technologies in a single system.
The image intensifier (night vision) allows the user to move freely in darkness and perceive the environment almost like daylight (depending on tube performance and available ambient light).
The thermal channel enables detection of objects based on temperature differences, even earlier and without any residual light.
Operating Modes
The F-COD offers three main modes:
Low Light
Highlight
Outline
→ Each mode can be individually adjusted to suit user preferences
Image Optimization
AGC (Automatic Gain Control):
Automatically adapts the thermal sensor to varying temperature conditions, ensuring optimal contrast between target and background
Brightness control:
Automatic (via light sensor)
Manual adjustment possible
→ Prevents overexposure and ensures optimal image quality
Fusion Technology Advantages
With conventional night vision devices, an IR illuminator is often required under poor conditions, making the user easily detectable.
→ Fusion technology minimizes this risk, as thermal imaging works independently of light sources

Thermal sensor resolution: 640 × 512
→ High level of detail and extended detection range
Multiple display options including:
Black Hot
Target Enhancement
Outline
→ Adaptable to a wide range of operational scenarios

Product Description
The thermal clip-on device for existing night vision systems creates a fused image overlay, combining the advantages of both technologies in one system.
The image intensifier allows the user to move freely in darkness and perceive the environment almost like daylight (depending on tube performance and available ambient light).
The thermal channel enables early detection of objects based on temperature differences—even without any residual light.
Enhanced Detection Capability
Even at distances of around 50 meters, detecting stationary individuals in wooded environments using only night vision can be extremely difficult—especially when they blend into trees or bushes.
→ By combining thermal imaging with image intensification:
Temperature differences between objects and surroundings become clearly visible
Targets can be detected earlier and at greater distances
Fusion Technology
With traditional night vision devices, an IR illuminator is often required under poor conditions—making the user easily detectable.
→ Fusion technology minimizes this risk, as thermal imaging works independently of light sources.

Proven System
The F-COD (Fused Clip-On Device) has been in use for years by numerous units in Germany and is highly regarded.
The improved successor, F-COD PRO, is available from Q3 2024 and offers:
Smaller size
Lower weight
Increased performance
Operating Modes (F-COD PRO)

Outline (adjustable)
→ Intensity can be individually fine-tuned
Image Optimization
AGC (Automatic Gain Control):
Automatically adapts the thermal sensor to environmental conditions for optimal contrast
Brightness adjustment:
Automatic (via light sensor)
Manual
→ Prevents overexposure and ensures optimal image quality
Ultra-Lightweight Design
Weight: only 50 g
→ One of the lightest systems on the market
Flexible Power Supply
The F-COD PRO combines both previous variants:
Standard version
EB version (external battery)
Features:
Removable battery module (tool-free)
Option to connect an external power cable
→ Maximum flexibility depending on mission requirements
The F-COD PRO features Bluetooth and offers the option to connect an optional smart battery pack to enable GPS, compass, and image storage functions.
The F-COD PRO is powered by a 3V CR123 lithium battery as standard and provides a runtime of over 3 hours. With optional battery packs, the runtime can be extended to over 10 hours.
Various Modes
For an even more comfortable viewing experience, the field of view has been increased from 30.5° to 35°.
As with previous models, the F-COD PRO is equipped with light sensors that ensure optimal image adjustment and help prevent overexposure of the image intensifier.
Thanks to a wide range of adapters, the F-COD PRO can be mounted on all common night vision devices, or used as a handheld thermal device with an optional eyepiece.
Custom Solutions
On request, we offer customized power and data cables as well as mounting solutions for OEM applications.
Accessories
Carrying case, battery pack with cable, remote control, screwdriver
Images may show optional accessories available at an additional cost.
Note on Illustration
The image shows the eyepiece mounted on the device.
It serves as an interchangeable eyepiece for handheld observation.
Mounting is performed by clamping it into the mounting ring for NT920 / PVS-14.

The thermal clip-on device for existing night vision systems creates a fused image overlay, combining the advantages of both technologies in a single device. The image intensifier allows the user to move freely in darkness and perceive the surroundings almost like daylight (depending on tube performance and available ambient light). With the additional thermal channel, objects that stand out from their environment due to temperature differences can be detected much earlier—even without any residual light.
With conventional image intensifiers, it is often necessary to activate an infrared illuminator under poor conditions. This makes the user easily detectable. This risk is minimized with fusion technology.
The highly sensitive detector with a resolution of 640x512 provides excellent detail and increased detection range. With various modes such as Black/Hot, Target Enhancement, and Outline, the user can optimally adapt the device to different situations. As a cost-effective upgrade, the F-COD can be adapted to almost all night vision devices.
With an optionally available eyepiece, the IEA F-COD clip-on device can also be used as a handheld thermal imaging device. The F-COD is also available in the “EB” (External Battery) version with an external battery pack.
Scope of Delivery
