The monocular night vision device with an integrated thermal imaging channel provides a fused image overlay, combining the advantages of both technologies in a single system. The image intensifier allows the user to move freely in darkness and perceive the surroundings almost like daylight (depending on tube performance and available ambient light). With the additional thermal channel, objects that stand out from their environment due to temperature differences can be detected much earlier—even without any residual light. With conventional image intensifiers, it is often necessary to activate an infrared illuminator under poor conditions. This makes the user easily detectable. This risk is minimized with fusion technology.
